Chapter 2 of The Gathering of Friends Cookbook, Volume 7, focuses on delicious salads.  Michelle Huxtable, creator of The Gathering of Friends series, is so right when she says "I find women like to eat lighter, saving room for the sweeter side."  To me that is spot on!

Here are some of our favorites from Fresh from the Garden.  Click on the image to see more details on the serving piece and for a recipe from this chapter click on the last title.

We are thrilled and honored to be apart of The Gathering of Friends Cookbook, Volume 7, Entertaining with Simplicity.  It was only earlier this year when Michelle Huxtable, owner of The Gathering of Friends, approched us at our Las Vegas Show and asked if we would loan her ALL of our samples for a cookbook she was working on.  We immediately said YES and the rest is history!  Michelle has yet again completed a beautiful, easy to use, and enjoyable cookbook that evelopes the joy of hosting, entertaining and cooking without offering overly complex recipes.  With The Gathering of Friends anyone can host a beautiful dinner party!

Reflection

Jun 24, 2014 4:02:44 PM

June 18, 2014, Arte Italica lost our founder, owner, friend and forever our inspiration, Ann Skidmore, to Lung Cancer.  Ann was diagnosed a short time ago, and we were all so hopeful for a full recovery and instead we are all devastated by her loss.

Ann to us was Arte Italica, it was as she would say, her "third child" and she poured her heart and soul into the company.  It was her love of Italian art and especially Italian pewter that led her to start Arte Italica in 1998.  A stay at home mom at the time, taking her first trip to Italy in her thirties and like so many of us fell in love with all things Italy.  With a few samples, and no knowledge of the gift industry, she jumped in with her whole heart and started the company out of her garage in CA.  As the company grew Arte Italica was relocated to NY and not wanting to relocate her family Ann worked bi-coastal.

(one of our first catalog shots)

Ann and the Italian factory revolutionized the industry when they created the first dinnerware collection that combined a pewter boarder on ceramic-Tuscan.  Today Tuscan is still a number one selling pattern and made Arte Italica a recognized name.

Ann also had a passion for handpainted and beautifully designed solid ceramics and in the last few years expanded our offerings.

Words really can't express how much we all loved her and how she could light up the room.  She was beautiful, caring, thoughtful and loving and everyone that had the honor of knowing her will miss her forever.

Ann leaves a beautiful family in CA, a successful company and friends and colleages from around the world.

We will honor her memory, her passion, her love of Italy and of course the products she designed.

- Arte Italica
